Round 11. 21/1/12
The Kingston Crows A
Grade team took North Huon at Glen Huon last
Saturday where the home team invited us to bat
first. We lost both openers in the 6th and 7th overs
and then Brett Stevenson 25 and Michael Conway 34
added 61 for the 3rd wicket. Having approached 100
with only two wickets down no one would have
predicted that we would then be 7/112 in the 26th
over. Jamie Knott 77 and Ash Woodhead 30 resurrected
our innings with an 8th wicket partnership of 94 and
then Knott and Dale Punshon 36 added 61 for the 9th
wicket and enabled us to reach a respectable total
of 267 when Punshon was dismissed in the final over.
Earlier Trent Rollins made 27 at the top of the
order.
North Huon were in
trouble at 4/69 in the 14th over before a
partnership of 87 in just 11 overs between Voss and
Parbs put them right back in the game. Trent Rollins
3/43 then dismissed both of those batsmen to give us
back the ascendency but the Warriors weren't done
yet and edged closer to our target before being
dismissed for 259 in the final over to give us a
narrow victory. Ash Woodhead took 2/36, Jamie Knott
2/46 and Dale Punshon 2/53.
B Grade were at home to
Longley where the Bunyips elected to bat first and
Tom Kink 2/14 had them reeling at 2/9. They them
took the score to 2/55 when Chris Honner 4/4 and
Braden Livingston 4/22 destroyed their batting line
up dismissing them for just 66. Thank to Mitchell
Owen for fielding for the team.
Openers, Mal Godfrey
47no with 10 4s and 1 6 and Levi Tretow 16 no then
peeled off the required runs in just 8.2 overs.
On Sunday our C Grade
team took on the undefeated Slab Road side at home.
The Roadies elected to bat first and their openers
went on a run spree adding 127 before they lost
their first wicket in just the 12th over. From there
our boys fought back fairly well restricting them to
235 when they were bowled out in the 35th over.
Simon Wass 3-31, Dale Hayers 3-55 and Dave Leamey
2-65 were the most successful of the bowlers.
Our run chase progressed
reasonably well but the Crows' batsmen were unable
to convert their starts into some big scores that
were required to achieve the total. Dave Leamey made
22 and Shane Hall 22.
