Round 13 (24/1/09)
With A
grade having the bye last Saturday the Kingston Crows B
grade team travelled to Kettering where
we triumphed in a close and exciting
game. The Crows batted first and once
again failed to bat out their over being dismissed
after 44 overs for 207. That score was
inflated by a 7th
wicket partnership of 58 between James
Murray 60 and Shannon Woolley 32.
These two came together with the
score 6/105. Chris Tomlin contributed 31 and Marcus Newman 21.
After
being 3/79 Kettering had a good 4th
wicket partnership and appeared to be heading to victory when acting
captain Jason Jones brought back opening bowler Trent Pearce in the
38th
over with the score 3/153. He
immediately dismissed both set batsmen and put us back in the game.
Kettering rallied however and at 7/189 looked a strong chance. The
Crows
were able to pick up the last 3 wickets as Kettering were dismissed
in the 49th
over for 197. Jason Jones took 3/28,
Trent Pearce 2/33, Anthony Lean 2/41 and Shannon Woolley
2/45.
C
grade played Ranelagh-Grove at Ranelagh
on Sunday and unfortunately copped a bit of a hiding. The
“Rams” batted first and amassed 2/238
off their 50 overs with Zac
Scriber 2/42 and Steve Matthews
2/43 being the wicket takers.
Our lads
did bat into the 37th
over reaching 104. B Collins made 22
opening the batting and Ash Woodhead scored 19 and Mal Scriber 16.
The
Under 15s were well beaten by Margate on Friday evening.
On
Saturday the Crows Past Players
took on Kingborough Superules in a social Twenty20 match. A good day
was had by all with the footballers taking the points largely due to
the batting of Roger Wilcox.
The
Crows advanced to the semi finals of the Statewide Twenty20
competition with a convincing win over Branxholm on Sunday. Please
see report elsewhere.
