Round 16 (14/2/09)
Last weekend started promisingly for the
Kingston Crows when they held their XVII Annual Golf Day. As usual
the day turned out to be very
successful with everyone having a
great time. Thanks very much to
Mal Godfrey and his team for
organizing and running the event
and to the North West Bay Golf Club for again allowing us to use
their facilities.
Unfortunately that was the highlight of the weekend as all four
teams suffered defeats on the field and those defeats have made a
dramatic impact on our standings
on the ladder in various grades.
A and B grade have lost top
spot and will now
need
to win all their remaining games to reclaim those positions, C grade
have virtually sealed their doom for the finals while the Under
15s missed
out on
the finals.
A
grade ventured to Blackmans Bay where
the Sharks batted first and finished on 9/268. They were able to
capitalize on a 4th
wicket partnership that saw them at one stage 3/224. Jamie took some
late wickets and finished with 5/43 and Robert Chapman 2/39.
Our
batting always struggled, losing
crucial wickets whenever we looked like getting going. Only a 45 run
partnership for the 8th
wicket between
Levi Treptow 45 and Shannon Woolley 21
gave us any respectability as we were bowled out for 161 in the 40th
over. Brett Stevenson top scored with
51.
B grade
were also on the road as they took on Longley where the bowlers
really suffered as Longley amassed 3/331 off their 50 overs.
No bowler made any impact on the day.
Thanks
to Jim Murray 53 and Andrew Henley 48 we gave ourselves some sort of
a chance but except for 28 from Andrew Downie our tail offered
little resistance as we were dismissed for 153.
C
grade
went down to Slab Road on Sunday needing to win to give
them any chance of finishing in the
finals. Batting first the boys did a good job batting out their 50
overs and scoring 8/153. Manning
Parkinson 36 Dean Heywood 26no and Gab Lefleur were the chief run
scorers.
Slab
Road were good enough to overtake our total for the loss of 5
wickets. Mal Scriber 3/31 and his
brother Zac 2/35 were the wicket
takers.
Lets
hope next weekends round of match gives us better results.
