Last Saturday
the Kingston Crows A grade team took on Woodbridge at home. The
Crows batted first and Dan Elliott was once again among the runs
with 51. Tight bowling by Woodbridge saw us take 32 overs to
post one hundred runs but a fine third wicket partnership of 154
between Jamie Knott 91 and Brett Stevenson 80 saw us accelerate
in the latter overs and enabled us to reach 4/258.
Good bowling
by all the Crows bowlers saw Woodbridge struggle to build a
score although the end came quickly after they had reached 5/91
and were then dismissed for 96. In fantastic news for all
followers of cricket in the HCCA, Andrew Henley returned to the
A Grade team and in a dream comeback took 3/5 off 4.4 overs.
Dale Punshon took 2/13 and Jamie Knott 2/26.
B Grade went
down to Franklin to take on the Southern Tigers in a top of the
table clash. Unfortunately the Crows were never in the game
after being dismissed for only 108 off 44 overs. James Murray 28
and Jason Jones 22 scored the bulk of those runs.
The Tigers
then batted us out of the game losing only 4 wickets in
overtaking our score. Jason Jones took all those wickets and
finished with 4/20.
C Grade took
on Longley at home and were sent to the field after losing the
toss. With two of the “Bunyips” top order batters scoring
centuries the lads had some leather chasing to do as Longley
scored 9/301 off their 50 overs. Patrick Verrall with 3/26 and
Dean Heywood 3/46 were the most successful bowlers.
Without being
too negative one could always assume that a total of that
magnitude was way too much for the boys and with Danial Woodhead
46, Shane Hall 29 and Gab Lefleur 22 making contributions they
managed to score 135 with Dean Heywood being unable to bat
The boys now
play their final game of the season at Kettering next Saturday.
The Round the
World Flight Night last Saturday was a huge success. Many thanks
to the Social Committee and partners and everyone else who
prepared the meals etc.
