Round 3
09-10
In last
weekend’s round of matches the Kingston Crows gained wins in
all four grades.
A grade
took on Huonville at home and made a good score of 8/240 on
a slowish outfield. Dan Elliott 61 and Joel Palmer 59 set up
the score with a 2nd wicket partnership of 90.
After 40 overs we had scored 3/156 and we lost 5 wickets in
adding 84 in the last 10 overs. Jamie Knott made 36.
Despite
Dale Punshon taking an early wicket Huonville got off to a
great start in their run chase. At different stages it
looked like the “Bulls” would coast to an easy win but
thanks to Dan Elliott 3/38, Robert Chapman 3/48, Dale
Punshon 2/39 and Jamie Knott 2/56 we were able to bowl them
out with 18 to spare and record a badly needed win.
B1 took on
Slab Road on their home ground and while they looked to be
traveling okay were in a fair bit of trouble at 5/119. A bit
of a recovery saw them reach 7/180 before an unbroken stand
of 48 off 6 overs between Jason Cripps 44no and Sam Peacock
21no enabled us to make 7/228. Chris Honner made 38, Damien
Pearce 31, Andrew Henley 24 and Heath Lovell 22.
In reply
the Roadies could never really get on top of our attack and
despite their opener batting through the entire innings were
dismissed for 197 in the 48th over. Ash Woodhead
took the first three wickets to fall and ended with 3/30,
Heath Lovell took 2/31 and Sam Peacock 2/44. Three wins from
three games is an excellent start to the season and any win
over Slab Road is hard earned.
B2 took on
Kettering at Kettering and were able to get right on top of
their batsmen restricting them to 99 off 37 overs with them
losing their last 4 wickets for the addition of only 2 runs.
Dean Heywood continued his good form from last week taking
3/10 off 8 overs, Trent Pearce returned to the field with
2/22 and Matthew Creek snared 2/24 and made a terrific run
out.
Gareth
Percey 38no, Mick Langford 27 and Dwain Swan 23no then
scored the required runs in the 11th over for the
loss of only one wicket.
C2 were
able to get a game in on Sunday at home despite a couple of
solid downpours. Batting first we were again in early
trouble with the score 2/12 but this only allowed young
captain, Shane Hall, to the crease. He proceeded to take the
Woodbridge attack apart as he made 150no out of the team’s
score of 328. His innings comprised 14 4s and 3 6s and he
was supported by Matthew Chapman 37 and Manning Parkinson
35.
In reply
Woodbridge got off to a reasonable start adding 34 for the
first wicket but the introduction of Malcolm Scriber after a
rain break saw him “spin” a web through their batters as he
took 6/13 off 6.2 overs as Woodbridge were dismissed for 79.
Zac Scriber took 2/24.
