Round 4
09-10
Last
weekend (28 &29th November) was scheduled as a double header
in A grade with no games for C grade. The Crows were
rostered to have the bye on the Sunday after taking on Snug
on Saturday. As it turned out due to the persistent rain no
play was possible in the Saturday game at home.
Likewise
the B1 match against Blackmans Bay at Sherburd Park was also
abandoned without a ball being bowled.
In the
round 3 match against Slab Road we saw Jason Jones play his
200th match for the Crows. Jonah came to the Club approx 15
seasons ago after having played near on 150 games for
Ranelagh-Grove. He has given fantastic service to Club
during that period having won numerous awards along the way.
For the past 4 seasons or so Jason has been an Assistant
Coach of the Club; a position he puts a great deal of effort
into. It is interesting to note that when he came to the
club he was a proven swing bowler in the old HCA
competition. He soon found his place at the Crows as a
crafty Leg spinner having played in two of the A grade
Premiership teams. Well done No. 5.
B2
ventured down to Ranelagh to take on North Huon where we
batted first but only saw enough play for Michael Langford
to make a “Duck’ before that game was also abandoned.
The Crows
have made it through to the Semi Finals of the HCCA Twenty20
competition after defeating North Huon in a relatively low
scoring game at our home ground on Tuesday night (24/11).
Geoff Freeman, Jamie Knott and Mark Owen provided the bulk
of the runs and Nick Townsend with two was the only multiple
wicket taker. The Crows lost 5 wickets and took to the 18th
over to overtake North Huon’s total of 102.
All at the
Club offer our condolences to long time supporter Adrian
“Spider” Webb on the passing of his mother.
