The
Kingston Crows Cricket Club’s players enjoyed being able
to take to the field last weekend and better still all
four teams recorded good victories.
A
grade ventured to Longley where the “Bunyips” won the
toss and elected to bat. It appeared that their main
mission was to bat out their 50 overs as they batted
until the 49th over to amass 138. The total
was certainly flattered by a last wicket partnership of
47 with their No. 11 being their highest scorer. Dale
Punshon was the destroyer with 5/31; Daniel Elliott took
4/35 and Ross Hinkley 1/13 off his 10 overs.
After
a reasonable start we found ourselves in a great deal of
trouble with the score 4/57. James Murray 46no and Chris
Honner 28 in his A grade debut for the Crows combined to
add 55 for the 5th wicket as we reached our
target for the loss of 5 wickets.
On our
Home ground B1 were asked to field first by the Southern
Tigers but soon had them in trouble at 3/35. Although
they made some minor partnerships they were never able
to get on top of our attack and were dismissed for 164
in the 49th over. Sam Peacock took 2/18 off
his 10 overs, Shannon Woolley 2/28, Nick Townsend 2/29
and Ash Woodhead 2/36.
Marc
Owen then blitzed the “Tigers” attack smashing 15 4s and
6 6s on his way to 122no as we reached our target in the
22nd over for the loss of only 1 wicket. Marc
added 107 for the 1st wicket with Damien
Pearce 19 and an unbroken 58 for the 2nd with
Heath Lovell 20no.
Our B2
traveled to Castle Forbes Bay to also take on the
Southern Tigers who also elected to bat first. They
managed a score of 105 before being dismissed in the 47th
over. Trent Pearce took 3/29, Scott Sward 2/12, Chris
Tomlin 2/15 and Chase McConnon 2/15.
What
looked to be a fairly simple run chase turned out
anything but that as we crashed to 5/51 before Chase
McConnon came to the rescue with 34no and took us to
victory with 4 wickets in hand.
C
grade were asked to bat first in their home game against
Snug. With some good efforts we were able to reach 7/298
after our 50 overs. Shane Hall 54 and Gab Lefleur 23
were able to lay the foundations of our total with a 3rd
wicket partnership of 100 that was obviously assisted by
a large number of sundries. Manning Parkinson then took
over making 81 including 11 4s and a 6. Earlier Daniel
Woodhead made 24 opening the batting.
The
undermanned Snug team then struggled against our attack
with Brendan Norris taking 5/31 and Alistair Triffitt a
career best 2/4 as they were dismissed for 51.
The
Christmas Party/ Spit Roast has been moved to Saturday
19th December. To assist with catering please
