Kingston Crows win 3^rd Twenty20 Title 

The Kingston Crows made it 3 titles in 3 seasons in the HCCA Twenty20 Competition.

In the Grand Final played at Woodbridge on Tuesday evening (8/12) the home side elected to bat first but soon found themselves in trouble losing their skipper without a run on the board. The situation only got worse as the Crows’ bowlers Andrew Henley, 3/19 and Nick Townsend, 2/9, restricted them to 5/35 after 10 overs. Tom Friend mounted a challenge for the home team scoring 2 4s and 3 6s in an entertaining knock of 47no. He and Ashley Wall added 34 for the 7^th wicket before Wall was run out by a direct hit by Nick Townsend. With Dale Punshon taking 2 wickets in the penultimate over the Crows restricted Woodbridge to 9/115.

The Kingston Crows opened their innings with Hamish Jamieson and Marc Owen. Owen launched an all out attack on the Woodbridge bowlers. When he was brilliantly caught by Simon Mansfield in the 6^th over he had smashed 6 4s and 3 6s in his innings of 48 and had destroyed Woodbridge’s hopes of gaining the title. Jamieson picked up where Owen had left off and his boundary off the first ball of the 14^th over brought up his half century and victory to the Crows. He ended on 53no with 3 4s and 5 6s. 

Andrew Henley was selected by the umpires as Player of the Match. 

The win to the Kingston Crows has given them another opportunity to participate in the Statewide Twenty20 Competition. Last season they performed very admirably before losing in the Semi Final to Clarence.
