Kingston Crows take it up to North Hobart
The Kingston
Crows put up a brave fight against TCA Club, North Hobart, in
the Statewide Twenty20 quarter Final played at Lightwood Park on
Sunday 24th January.
Before a huge
crowd the Crows were asked to bat first but struggled against a
tight bowling attack. At 5/36 in the 9th over it
looked like an early finish but Andrew Henley 30 and Robert
Chapman 20 added 34 for the 6th wicket and this
enabled the Crows to score 105 before being dismissed off the
second last ball of the innings. For North Hobart Rhys Holmes
took 3/18 and Patrick Doherty 2/17.
The Demons
then appeared to want to finish the game very quickly as Michael
Dighton struck three consecutive boundaries in the first over
before Jamie Knott had him caught behind. Russell DeGroot 30 and
John Rogers 22 then added 54 for the 2nd wicket
before Andrew Henley dismissed both batsmen. He then bowled Dan
Marsh and when Jamie Knott took an outstanding catch off the
bowling of Dan Elliott the hill erupted. Michael DiVenuto saw
North Hobart over the line in the 16th over but not
before the Kingston Crows had put up a terrific fight. Henley
finished with the figures of 3/20.
